You will be representing Alki Kayak Tours in a profession manner at all times. In order to fill this position you must truly love working with people and be passionate about kayaking, and educating our guests about our local region. You will be a part of our team of guides who guide at least 3 tours each day with as many as 50 guests. The sea kayak guide position includes managing and taking care of equipment, communicating with other staff and clients, and setting up and putting away all gear for your tour. This involves cleaning all kayaks, PFDs and Paddles. You will be required to plan ahead, work hard, and be detail oriented in taking care of clients and equipment.

You are expected to be responsible to do whatever is necessary to get your tour ready including pulling out all the kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and safety gear. We seek applicants who show us they will go above and beyond, taking the initiative to do what is needed to be done without being asked. No kayak guiding experience in required for this position, as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training, but you must be proficient in the sport. You will be spending multiple hours a day in the sun and in the water, observing weather, winds, and tides to ensure clients are staying safe and helping them with paddle technique and maneuvers. Your basic schedule will alternate between public, and private SUP lessons and tours. The SUP instructor/guide job includes managing and taking care of equipment, communicating with other staff and clients, and setting up and putting away all gear for classes and tours. This involves cleaning all boards, PFDs and Paddles. You will be required to plan ahead, work hard, and be detail oriented in taking care of clients and equipment.

You are expected to be solely responsible to do whatever is necessary to get your class/tour ready including pulling out all the boards, paddles, PFDs, leashes, and instruction tools. We seek applicants who show us they will go above and beyond, taking the initiative to do what is needed to be done without being asked. No SUP instruction experience in required for this position, as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training, but you must be proficient in the sport. You will be spending multiple hours a day in the sun and in the water, observing weather, winds, and tides to ensure clients are staying safe and helping them with paddle technique and maneuvers. Salary: ($15 – $20 / hour, plus tips) depending on experience

• Knowledgeable of water sports (kayaking, canoeing, sup, surf, etc.)

• Desire and ability to learn new skills in the outdoor industry

• Experience in customer service

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

• Physical ability to lift 75lbs

• Obtain appropriate attire and gear to preform your job

• Knowledge of all equipment and there uses in ownership of Alki Kayak Tours

• Ability to maintain and repair rental gear
